Wa I Pi Nagu is the Whirling Thunder Wellness Program's accredited Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) classes. DSME classes are a critical element to any patient's diabetes health care treatment plan.

The class is held bi-annually in 10-week segments. During these times, participants learn in-depth knowledge on diabetes pathophysiology, nutrition, exercise, mental health, and pharmacology as it relates to controlling diabetes. The education is provided by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Registered Nurses, Certified Diabetes Educators, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Exercise Physiologists, and Nutrition Specialists.

Participants will receive consistent support from staff members and learn how to set (SMART) goals that they will work toward achieving during the 10-week segments.

For more information about the DSME program, or for details on how to join, please call Camilla at (402-878-3146), Frederick Harden at (402-878-2231 ext.1206), or ask your physician for a referral.

*The Whirling Thunder Wellness Program is accredited through the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
